Though this will be actually the twentieth-plus specific summer training program supervised by Sport Village, it will be the fifth consisting of weekday double work sessions. Or as I like to describe it, dual training systems within an available work cycle. The process and results were quite successful last year so it was decided to followup with somewhat of the same this year.
Similar to last summer, the morning session will be primarily centered around strength builds and maintenance. Work units will generally be Olympics Lifts, Statics and Multi-Throws. Offsetting general strength activities will be placed in as well for regeneration purposes.
The late afternoon-early evening session will facilitate specific speed development and dynamic power units of work. Because the training platform is demand based, with force output being that which is most important, energy system structure will not be a consideration in this program. Work units for these sessions will typically consist of sprint accelerations, duration limited maximal sprinting and Multi-Jumps. Similar to various morning sessions, some general strength work, and possibly tempo activities, will be employed to offset certain metabolic effects and enhance recovery.
An example of this format is shown here:
As is the case with most of our work, performance measurements will be captured from real-time timing mechanisms, as well as video recording for force and velocity data. Since the majority of the work is centered around dynamic movement screening, these measurements are captured through various automatic training apparatus. SprintTimer and GoPro are but a few examples of this. Freelap, though not part of our equipage, is a very popular option as well.
As shown on certain threads at TrackNation, these are a few examples of the data collection and reduction result process:
